The Kansas City Royals were a perrenial powerhouse through the 1980's after coming into the leauge in 1969. Just look at some of the names they featured during those years: Amos Otis, Hal McRae, John Mayberry, George Brett, Frank White, Willie Wilson, and Bret Saberhagen. The Royals made it to the playoffs 7 times before finally winning it all in 1985 in the "I-70 Series" againt the Cardinals. Although there were some lean years following the championship, they rose back to prominence in 2014 and eventually won the 2015 World Series. One of the most famous plays in Royals history occured in 1983 against the Yankees when George Brett had a home run disallowed after the umpire discovered the bat he used had too much pine tar, which became known as the famous "Pine Tar Incident".
